On October 1, as a part of The Future, Bridget presented the new short public space work ‘Because of Gravity’

The Future is a collaboration between Rambert and The Lowry to showcase original works choreographed and performed by Rambert’s dancers and artists from the north of England.

‘In the morning when I woke you were with me. In the morning when I woke you were gone.’

‘Because of Gravity’ studies, abstracts and embodies the dynamics and processes that occur during the formation of stars. This study consequently creates a journey that the body must move through, acts that must occur and relationships that must unfold between performers.

In 2016 Dance Manchester and the University of Manchester (SEERIH) commissioned Bridget to collaborate with leading astrophysicists on ‘Stellarium' a new youth dance project. Bridget brings knowledge and explorations from this project into ‘Because of Gravity’.

Through research Bridget has found the subject both humbling and empowering as it is in dialogue with our own existence. Therefore, coupling movement created from the subject, Bridget is also interested in the way this work can be in dialogue with both fact and wonderment.

Choreographed by Bridget Fiske.

Performed by Bridget Fiske & Joseph Lau.

Music composed by Miguel Marin.

Original text by Bridget Fiske.
