'Because Of Gravity

Created and presented as a part of The Future: a Lowry and Rambert partnership / Past project

‘In the morning when I woke you were with me. In the morning when I woke you were gone.'

A dance duet for public spaces, 'Because of Gravity’ studies, abstracts, and embodies the dynamics and processes that occur during the formation of stars. This study consequently creates a journey that the body must move through, acts that must occur, and relationships that must unfold between performers. â€‹â€‹â€‹

In 2016 Dance Manchester and the University of Manchester Science and Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub (SEERIH) commissioned Bridget to collaborate with leading astrophysicists on ‘Stellarium' a new youth dance project. Bridget brings knowledge and explorations from this project into ‘Because of Gravity’. Through research, Bridget has found the subject both humbling and empowering as it is in dialogue with our own existence. Therefore, coupling movement created from the subject, Bridget is also interested in the way this work can be in dialogue with both fact and wonderment.

I acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea, and community. I pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and to Elders past and present.
